New name and new look coming for UO ID card | OregonNews

Nov 06, 2024Nov 06, 2024

The University of Oregon identification card is getting a fresh new identity. Soon to be known as the Flock Card, the new name will address a longstanding issue of mistakenly referring to the ID card as the Duck ID.

According to the ID Card Services Office, the ID card has been commonly confused with other names, such as the Duck ID (the first part of one’s “@uoregon.edu” email address) and the 95* ID number. By adopting a consistent and official name that differentiates the ID card from the Duck ID and the UO ID number, ID Card Services aims to ease the onboarding process for new students, faculty and staff.

Because this rebranding effort is aimed at creating a stronger sense of identity and connection within the Duck community, ID Card Services is offering a unique opportunity for students to contribute to this new chapter through a Flock Card redesign contest.

The contest invites students to submit creative and innovative designs, with the winning design becoming the official look of the Flock Card for students, faculty, staff and the larger UO community starting in the fall of 2025.

The new card will first be issued to incoming students during IntroDUCKtion in summer 2025. Current students, faculty and staff will not be required to replace their existing cards.

Contest details:

This contest is a platform for students to showcase their design talent and contribute to the visual identity of campus. All students are encouraged to participate, whether they are experienced artists or simply have a great idea.

All information regarding submission guidelines, design specifications and key dates can be found on the ID Card Office website.
